“Fusion to the fore – violinist Jyotsna Srikanth picks elements from jazz, Irish folk, Blues and Indian classical music to create her own kind of sound” (Bangalore Mirror)
Rooted in South Indian musical traditions, composer and violin virtuoso Jyotsna Srikanth seamlessly combines Indian & Western classical and contemporary styles. She has featured on the soundtrack of over 200 Bollywood films and regularly performs with the leading lights of Indian music. Internationally, she has collaborated with acclaimed artists from around the world. They include Spanish guitar legend Eduardo Niebla, Portuguese Fado saxophonist Rao Kyao, and “UK national treasure” violinist and conductor Robert Atchison.
These experiences have influenced her experimental cross-over band the Jyotsna Srikanth Project (JSP). Together with fellow band members include Chris Haigh (Jazz violin), beat-boxer Shadrach Solomon (keyboard), Victor Obsust (double bass), Karthik Mani(Drums) and Nishanthan Rajkumar (percussion), JSP continues to push musical boundaries.
The band’s musical sound is rooted in Indian Carnatic Jazz, interweaved with Flamenco, Electronica, Funk, Celtic Folk, Bollywood and even Rock. Forever improvising, the musical focus shifts depending on the audience and setting. Every live performance delivers a unique experience, journeying across multiple musical genres with divine harmonies and dazzling rhythms that captivate audiences.
